I concur. They build all this BS to break. I had a pair of earbud headphones from Sony that cost about $50. The little rubber piece that is inserted into your ear is VERY easy to accidentally knock off one of the buds if you throw it in your pocket etc.. Needless to say, I lost one and the headphones are USELESS without them. They won't stay in your ear, nor is the sound clear or audible if you just hold it there (for whatever reason.

Another thing I had was a camcorder light. The part that screws onto the camcorder to secure the light was made of plastic. If you saw the design, you would see just how amazingly easy it was built to break if you accidentally bump the light while it's attached. And you guessed it, the thumbscrew plastic broke, and the light was useless unless I held it by hand. And sony doesn't sell the parts for it.

I owned your Sony DAV C770 surround system as well. How do you like the speaker wires? Notice how they made them proprietary with your unit? Nice and color coded to distract you from noticing that you are now unable to plug another speaker (such as a subwoofer like I'd wanted to do) unless you splice the wires I guess... I never EVER will buy ANYTHING sony, and haven't done so for several years now. If you look past all their pretty designs, you'll see how EVERYTHING IS PROPRIETARY (can you say "memory stick" instead of SD slots on computers?) and just how crappy it really is.

Yeah, it seems Sony’s customer “service” is reputed to be extremely shoddy. There’s nothing more fun than red tape phone tag when your expensive electronics need fixing. Lately I have been getting similar “assistance” with my defective mp3 player. At least my piece of crap player doesn’t make me convert all my music to ATRAC, though. Sony’s stupid music and movie holdings are ruining its software business, one short-sighted DRM decision at a time.
