In my e-mail turned post, I typed that one of the passages from Pynchon’s “Gravity’s Rainbow” read near Malabacat, ‘something’ rolls around.  For some strange reason, my memory was really gone, and I remembered the passage as ‘something’.  In Pynchon’s book, it is actually, paraphrased, a ‘baby’ rolls or squirms around. 

I don’t know why I remembered it as something.

Either way, I must also comment on how I thought Pynchon’s use of language was really obscene and the imagery he uses regarding character images of babies or children isn’t very literary.
