In other news, I&#8217;ve finally figured out how to get EE to link to commenter URLs, if they exist, but NOT link to commenter email addresses in the absence of URLs.&#160; This is a major step forward.

Almost always, if you leave a field blank and have to resubmit a comment, the captcha doesn&#8217;t show&#8212;but often changes.&#160; That leaves the visitor unable to submit a comment unless they leave the site and come back again.
